Hi, Bleedingsnort has as some of you may already have noticed, changed there name to emergingthreats.net so please update the "oinkupdate.sh" script so that it downloads new rules from www.emergingthreats.net instead from the old site.

2007-12-19 Thanks to Cipher, we now have a new mirror site, located in Sweden.
I'm working on the documentation for 1.8 but the 1.7 docs will still help somewhat. One thing that you should be aware of is that in 1.8 the minimum requirments are the following: 2 servers with at least 2 NICs each.

Hi, Im glad to annonce the availiability of OpenIDS 1.8, the "theme" of this release is passive detection. It has gone to long time since the last release, I'm sorry for that, but I hope that this one will make up for some of it. Enjoy the hollidays and hopefully next year will bring yet a couple of "semi regular" releases of OpenIDS =) Thank you for your support during the past year!

OpenIDS 1.8 RC is released. I hope to have the final available next week.

OpenIDS 1.8 Beta is released. Requirement for beta testing is as follows: two "servers" with at least two network interfaces each. If you have such a setup to spare let me know and I will add you to the beta test list.

Bugs
2007-05-31I added information about a bug in OpenIDS 1.7, the firewall on a remote sensor is not started by default. Follow the instructions on the bug page to correct the problem.
