2009-12-21Yet another year has passed, I manged to release OpenIDS 2.0 during this year, it took more time and effort then I expected. But it was released!
I was a bit vague in the release notes when I wrote that 2.0 might be the last OpenIDS release..
I will use the holidays to play with all the other fun stuff that I just put on the "to-do" list while finishing the 2.0 release, I will also contemplate the future of the project, so please let me know your opinion, should we aim for a 2.1 or should I start something new? (I have a couple of ideas)
I would like give a big thanks! To everyone that has supported the project over the years. And to the users who has been using OpenIDS!

2.0 is now available from a mirror site of your choice! (it might take a few days before every mirror site is updated)
The 2.0 release was not as easy to finalize as I originally thought, I'm sorry for the delay.
I hope 2.0 will continue to be useful for those who already is using previous release but also for new users.
Please let me know what you think, good or bad it's your comments(or lack of them) that will form future releases or make 2.0 the final version. Review the changelog for a complete list of changes. 2.0 is best enjoyed with a cold beer =)

The RC1 will be available on Monday, and if no major flaws are found I plan to have the 2.0 final out the Monday after that. 2009-03-23
The 2.0 BETA is finally released. As this is a none public BETA, you will have to send me a mail to get the download URL.

The 2.0 is well on it's way and I hope to be able to release the beta in two weeks. If you have the time to install the new version and report back to me with your findings, send me a mail and I will include you in the beta release cycle. 2008-12-17

Bug 02: Update
The solution that I posted for bug no 2, does not solve the issue. It seems like dumpcap (which is used by tshark to enable the ring-buffer) do not honour the "switch" size (if size if over 1 GB per file). This seems to be a OpenBSD problem.. I suggest that If you don't need the fullcontent, remove the tshark row in /etc/rc.local. (OpenIDS 2.0 will *not* contain tshark but it will instead use daemonlogger for the fullcontent) I'm sorry for the inconvenience. If you *do* need the fullcontent function (and can't wait for 2.0) I will release a solution based on daemonlogger later this week for you to apply if needed.
